Downtown Programming

Downtown Gloversville has programming that goes beyond event days. Programming reaches out to community members and engages them in helping to make a lasting change in the downtown. Below are a few of the programs on offer in 2018.

Artist in Residence Program (ARP)

2018 will see the launch of a pilot Artist in Residence Program. The selected artist, Nicolina Schonfarber, has been tasked with documenting downtown Gloversville over the course of a 12-month period. Full details on the ARP can be found here.

Business Owners Newsletter

Each month, business owners in downtown Gloversville receive a one-page newsletter sharing opportunities, tips and chances to share their knowledge. Are you a business owner or community member that would like to receive this monthly mailer? Please fill out the contact sheet here; be sure to note your inquiry is for the newsletter and leave your mailing address in the comments section.

Grassroots Gloversville

Great ideas come about over a conversation and a beer. Grassroots Gloversville is a monthly open table for community members to meet each other and share ideas over a beer, glass of wine or iced tea. The meetings are held at Brass Monkey and run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the last Thursday of the month.

Next meeting: Thursday, July 26th

Downtown Women’s Discussion Group

Each quarter a group of women who work, live and volunteer in downtown Gloversville meet to discuss important issues we want addressed. Meetings have resulted in a community-wide volunteer form, plans for cleaner sidewalks during the winter season and more. Would you like to receive an invite to the discussion group? Please fill out the contact sheet here; be sure to indicate that your inquiry is for the Women’s Discussion Group and include your mailing address.

Next meeting: July 2018, date TBA

Downtown Business Owners Roundtable

Business owners, elected officials and community leaders meet on a quarterly basis for lunch in an effort to open avenues of dialogue. The moderated discussion focuses on the needs, opportunities and challenges our downtown faces and how we can help pave a path forward. The lunches are capped at 10 people to ensure a workable group where everyone present feels listened to and accountability for decided action steps are clear. Would you like more information on these quarterly lunches? Please fill out the contact sheet here.

Next meeting: September 20th, held the 3rd Thursday of every month
