Downtown Food and Music Festival Set for Saturday

Bacon Jam, downtown Gloversville’s bacon and music festival will be held this Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Farmers Market Pavilion between Elm and Bleecker Streets in Gloversville. All are welcome to attend. Now in its second year, Bacon Jam features bacon-centric food, community groups, live music and a beer garden. Full event details are available here. “We are pleased to once again host this major downtown event,” said Jennifer Jennings, Gloversville’s Downtown Development Specialist. “Our planning committee has worked hard to make this year’s Bacon Jam bigger and better than last year. We have amazing food lined-up, great musicians and local hard cider and beer. We cannot wait to share Bacon Jam with the entire community.”

The beer garden will feature:

  • Nine Pin Cider
  • RS Taylor & Sons
  • Rare Form Brewing
  • Stump City Brewing

Please note: the beer garden has an entrance fee of $5 with beers purchased for an additional cost.

Live music will be performed by:

  • 4-5 p.m.       Craic Agus Ceol
  • 5-6 p.m.       Michelle King
  • 6-7 p.m.       Our Secret Love Society
  • 7-8 p.m.       The Insolent Willies

All guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to sit and enjoy the music throughout the day.

“FM is proud to be a partner and the music sponsor of this year’s Bacon Jam event,” said Dusty Swanger, President of Fulton-Montgomery Community College. “Community engagement is very important to FM and events like this print positive exposure to our community. The Center for Regional Growth is working hard to strengthen Fulton County’s economic base and events such as this highlight the good work that is being done.”

The event’s layout spans the parking lot surrounding the Farmers Market Pavilion and is located between Bleecker and Elm Streets. A small portion of Elm Street will be closed to traffic to allow safe pedestrian flow between Bacon Jam and North Main Street. Public parking will be accessible along Elm and Bleecker Streets.

Community organizations will also have tables at the event. These include:

  • Fulton Montgomery Community College
  • The Glove Theatre
  • Gloversville Artist in Residence
  • Gloversville Public Library
  • Gloversville Senior Center
  • The Leader Herald

Fulton Montgomery Community College is the official Music Sponsor of Bacon Jam. Major sponsors include Fage USA, Fulton County Center for Regional Growth, The Leader Herald, North Country Ecological Services and WENT Radio. “Bacon Jam will be a true celebration of downtown Gloversville,” Jennings adds. “It is an event meant to welcome the entire community and highlight the beautiful place we call home.”
