Something Sweet Downtown

Local bakery shares delicious memories

In June, Ashley Tauss, Rania Alaytha, and Hani Alikhan opened up Cravings Bakery & Cafe, located at 87 West Fulton Street, featuring larger than life creations baked from scratch with heart. The shop is a dream come true for Ashley, who grew up baking with her grandmothers, two women who taught her that homemade baking takes time and a lot of love.

Ashley graduated from college, having studied human services and quickly went to work at an insurance agency. While she    enjoyed her job, it didn’t make her “jump out of bed” in the morning. Now, Ashley says, “I’m excited by what I do. It’s hard work, but not a job.” Her enthusiasm and love of baking comes through in each item on-sale at the shop.

When asked about her experiences thus far, Ashley responded. “It’s going well, but I knew in my belly it would be great. When you put your heart into things they are meant to blossom.”
